file type, file and extension

hi everyone. i have a problum. can anybady tell me how to display the file type and extension in the list.
for example i uploaded excel file. in the list i have three columns. 1) file type 2) file. xls 3) .xls.
in the list i need to show file type is "Excel file", file is filename.xls. and extension is ".xls".
can anybady help how to do it.

iam not geting an idea how to display file extension in list.

Please share the stuff what you have done in a simple espace and share what you have tried.
I'm confident the online courses/help/howto's and forums will have told you most of the stuff you need.
