Summer’s here and the time is right for… reading all about low-code. And, we’ve rounded up a collection of six resources from Gartner, Forrester and IDC, not to mention one of our own publications, that you can download and toss into your beach bag. We’ve got waves, magic, numbers, and even profiling! What more could you ask for?

Best of all, this six-pack of resources is free. So, check them out and get up to speed on the hottest industry trends while cooling off at the ocean or by the pool. (And if it’s winter where you are, you can read them while pretending you’re on summer vacation.)

1. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms 2017

According to Gartner, there are 17 companies whose platforms meet Gartner’s criteria for mobile application development (MADP). In June 2017, Gartner revealed where those vendors were on their Magic Quadrant for MADP. In this report, you can find all the drama expected in a summer read. Which platforms are leading the pack? (Hint, one of them starts with “O.”) Who are the visionaries? What about the challengers? Who has shot to stardom since the 2016 Magic Quadrant for MADP?

Check out the report for the answers to these questions along with interesting information about each player, such as strengths and cautions. You’ll be better informed when it’s time to make a decision about which vendor’s platform to use.

2. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for High-Productivity Application Platform as a Service 2017

Enterprise High-Productivity Application as a Service (hpaPaas) platforms can dramatically increase application development speed and get you on a successful path to digital transformation faster. And who doesn’t love a good story about speed and transformation in the summer? In an April 2017 report, Gartner revealed its Magic Quadrant for Enterprise High-Productivity Application Platform as a Service (hpaPaaS) 2017, a brand new category for the MQ. The report also examines the leading platforms and highlights the leaders, challengers, visionaries and niche players.

There’s plenty of suspense—not to mention good information—in this report. Find out where OutSystems falls and learn the strengths and cautions of each hpaPaaS vendor, so you can figure out which best suits your needs.

3. The Forrester Wave for Mobile Low-Code Development Platforms

Summer’s all about catching waves, and we’ve got them for you–Forrester Waves, that is. One of two comprehensive assessments of the low-code development market, the Forrester Wave for Mobile Low-Code for Low-Code Platforms, Q1 2017, evaluates the leading vendors in this space based on 24 criteria. If you want to find ways to accelerate your mobile app development, this is the resource for you. With excellent summaries of each platform, it clearly shows how each provider measures up.

Like many gripping reads, a key number in the report is 13. That’s the number of times one of the vendors got the highest possible scores. Read the report to find out which one and why Forrester might need a bigger chart in 2018.

4. The Forrester Wave for Low-Code Development Platforms

What’s a beach or pool reading list without some history? Way back in 2014, Forrester introduced the world to the term “low-code.” In 2015, they surveyed the low-code landscape, and in 2016, they released the Forrester Wave for Low-Code Development Platforms, Q2 2016–the first ever for this new category. Evaluating the platforms based on 26 criteria and scoring the vendors on each one, they used this intriguing description: “Low-code attack the need for code from different perspectives.”

Discover who the leaders, contenders and challengers are in this report. You probably won’t be too surprised to learn who got the highest possible score for 22 of the 24 criteria, but you will gain some new insights into what makes a vendor a leader.

5. IDC Vendor Profile

All of the major industry analysts are focusing their research on low-code application platforms because their customers are requesting it. Analyst IDC builds vendor profiles so customers and organizations can better understand the major players in an industry, and they recently released one about OutSystems.

This IDC Vendor Profile is your feel-good read for the summer. Learn how OutSystems is helping IT organizations accelerate their digital transformation by enabling better digital customer experiences, more efficient digital operations and rapid development of modern core IT systems.

6. State of Application Development: 2017 Research Report

What happens when you get 3,200 IT professionals from over 40 countries to take part in a survey on the state of application development today? You get a comprehensive, 20-page research report that’s jam-packed with all kinds of enlightening information.
