About This Job

The Lead Software Engineer, OutSystems is a highly driven senior technical contributor and team lead responsible for architecting, building, and governing high-quality OutSystems applications that support critical banking operations. This role demands deep platform expertise, a strong curiosity about underlying business processes, and the ability to bridge technical execution with business stakeholder needs. You will work hands-on across both OutSystems 11 (O11) and OutSystems Developer Cloud (ODC), guiding a team of developers, setting coding and architecture standards, and ensuring delivery meets the security, performance, and compliance standards required in a regulated financial services environment.

Technical Design & Architecture

• Lead the design and architecture of OutSystems applications using the 4-Layer Canvas (O11) and ODC domain-driven design patterns. 
• Identify non-functional requirements, integration needs, and common style guides across all OutSystems applications in the portfolio. 
• Assess existing applications for performance, architecture quality, and adherence to best practices; recommend and implement improvements. 

Hands-On Full-Stack Development

• Develop complex OutSystems web and mobile applications in both O11 (Service Studio, Integration Studio) and ODC (ODC Studio, ODC Portal) environments. 
• Build and maintain REST/SOAP integrations with core banking systems, trading platforms, CRM solutions, and third-party financial services APIs. 
• Extend OutSystems with C#/.NET when platform-native capabilities are insufficient for the required solution. 
• Implement responsive UI/UX using OutSystems UI frameworks, Angular, or React as applicable; adhere to accessibility and brand standards. 

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

• Conduct structured code reviews; provide actionable, constructive feedback aligned to OutSystems architecture best practices and secure coding standards. 
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers; actively support team members' OutSystems certification journeys (Associate through Professional/Architect levels). 
• Lead technical grooming sessions, design reviews, and solution walkthroughs with development, architecture, and QA teams. 
• Act as the OutSystems subject-matter expert (SME) for platform queries, escalations, and architectural decisions within the team. 

DevOps, Performance & Delivery

• Manage application deployments via LifeTime (O11) and ODC Portal, including environment promotion, hotfix management, and rollback procedures. 
• Collaborate with DevOps/DevSecOps teams on CI/CD pipeline integration and infrastructure-as-code practices for OutSystems applications. 
• Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory issues, and integration failures using OutSystems performance profiling and monitoring tools. 
• Participate in release planning, sprint ceremonies, and capacity estimation; support multi-team or dual-shore delivery environments when applicable. 

Technical Competencies

• OutSystems Platform Mastery: Deep O11 expertise and working ODC knowledge; able to guide platform evolution and migration decisions. 
• Full-Stack Depth: Extends OutSystems with C#/.NET, SQL, and front-end frameworks when the platform requires it — not just a low-code developer. 
• Solution Architecture: Translates complex business requirements into clean, performant, and maintainable OutSystems designs. 
• Integration Fluency: Confident building and debugging enterprise integrations across diverse banking system landscapes. 
• Security Mindset: Proactively identifies and mitigates application-layer security risks; comfortable in audit and compliance conversations. 
• Business Curiosity: Highly driven to understand the business processes behind the technology, not just the technical ticket in front of them. 

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM discipline. 
• 7+ years of overall software development experience, with at least 5 years of hands-on OutSystems development (O11 required). 
• Strong full-stack development foundation: proficiency in .NET/C#, SQL Server (or equivalent RDBMS), JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. 
• Demonstrated experience delivering OutSystems applications in a financial services, banking, or similarly regulated environment. 
• Deep command of OutSystems development tools: Service Studio, Integration Studio, LifeTime (O11); ODC Studio and ODC Portal. 
• Proven ability to design and build enterprise REST/SOAP integrations and debug complex API-driven workflows within OutSystems. 
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and version control (Git or equivalent) in an OutSystems delivery context. 
• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodology, and associated tooling (Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence). 
• Experience working on integrating OutSystems with external systems. 
•  Exceptional work ethic, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and the ability to independently manage a workload with multiple priorities

Preferred

• OutSystems Professional Developer or Architecture Specialist certification (or commitment to achieve within 6 months of hire). 
• Experience with ODC (OutSystems Developer Cloud): domain modeling, external libraries, ODC Portal deployment, and cloud-native architecture patterns. 
• Proficiency in front-end frameworks used alongside OutSystems: Angular 10+, React, or TypeScript. 
• Experience integrating OutSystems with core banking platforms, payment gateways, clearing systems, or financial data APIs. 
• Exposure to OWASP Top 10 remediation and penetration testing response within a low-code/OutSystems context. 
• Prior experience in multi-team, dual-shore, or accelerated delivery environments. 
• Familiarity with AI Mentor Studio, Agent Builder / Agent Workbench, and ODC/Service Studio AI-assisted features
• "AI-Forward Mindset" competency covering OutSystems AI tooling + non-OutSystems tools

Target Range

• $105,000.00 /Yr. - $120,000.00 /Yr.
• Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
• Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 10%
• Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 10%
• These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.
