Since 2001 thinkmoney has been helping customers stay on top of their finances. We’ve changed a fair bit since then, and we’re growing and developing new things faster than ever. But one thing hasn’t changed: the way we look after our customers.

Our digital teams are constantly developing new app features based on real customer feedback, and our customer service teams are here to support customers who need that human touch.

Our commitment to helping others doesn’t end there. CSR is important, and in 2020 we received an award for being the largest fundraiser for Cash For Kids over the last four years, and another for raising £1million for charities in the last ten years.

How you can shape our future

We are now recruiting for a number of software developers to join our award-winning technology function. As a Senior Software Developer you will have a hunger to learn and self-improve and share your knowledge with the wider team. Developing software at this scale is quite the challenge, so that’s why we’re passionate not just about the result, but how you get there and the technologies you use to deliver world-class systems and services. We have a large estate with a wide variety of technologies, and with that comes many challenges! You will be working on supporting the existing systems and help to develop new ones as our product offering grows.

 

What will you be working on?

We have a variety of technologies both old and new! Our website and mobile applications (iOS & Android) are built using the OutSystems Low Code Platform and these in turn connect to a collection of back end APIs and systems hosted both on-prem and in AWS to interface with a wide range of banking platforms, from moving money and printing cards to security and fraud protection.

Many of these services are written in Microsoft .NET Framework C#, but an increasing number are built in Go and are deployed using Serverless technologies.

As we embrace a DevOps culture, you could be working across any part of the stack from an iOS app design change to a Terraform state refresh.

We’re looking for a number of people with a proven track record of delivering high quality solutions in a fast-paced, high impacting, Agile digital delivery environment, building and running the thinkmoney banking website and mobile app.

What we need from you is your experience in developing software in a test-driven style, ability to solve problems quickly and accurately, with an eye for detail and a strong understanding of great engineering practices.

 

As a Senior Software Developer

• You will be confident in delivering software solutions in a language such as C#, Go, Java, or Python and have experience in working with and refactoring existing codebases
• You will be familiar with deploying to cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• You will have experience in delivering software in a test-driven style (TDD) and be familiar with various automation testing processes
• You will be experienced in mentoring and training other members of the development team. Experience working with remote teams will be advantageous
• Be able to communicate, advocate, persuade and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to advance our engineering practices and deliver audience value
• You take pride in delivering high quality solutions, fulfilling the requirements in an elegant and succinct manner
• You will work closely with the developers in your team to ensure all deliveries are of a high standard

 

It would be advantageous, but not essential if you have any of the follwing experience:

• Developing in Go
• Developing and releasing Android and iOS mobile applications
• Working with low-code platforms such as OutSystems
