Four Myths of High-Productivity App Dev Debunked

Brought to you by OutSystems and Computerworld

In this webinar:

David Norfolk of Bloor Research International discusses research that compares two high-productivity platform as a service (PaaS) development platforms: OutSystems Platform and Force.com from Salesforce.com (now re-branded as Salesforce1 Platform). In this webcast he will debunk the main myths surrounding high-productivity application development and how both platforms have overcome them, albeit with somewhat different approaches for different kinds of customers.

Speaker Bios:

David Norfolk first became interested in computers and programming quality in the 1970s, working in the Research School of Chemistry at the Australian National University. Here he discovered that computers could deliver misleading answers, even when programmed by very clever people, and was taught to program in FORTRAN. His ongoing interest in all things related to development has culminated in his joining Bloor in 2007 and taking on the development brief.

He has his own company, David Rhys Enterprises Ltd, which he runs from his home in Chippenham, where his spare moments (if any) are spent on photography (he has an ARPS distinction from the Royal Photographic Society), sailing and listening to music..

Sean Allen oversees product marketing for OutSystems. With more than twenty years experience in high-tech organizations like VMware, Salesforce.com, and Mercury Interactive, he brings an informed and passionate perspective to a wide variety of modern IT topics. Currently, his energy is being poured into changing the way the world thinks about designing, developing, and delivering beautifully functional multi-device applications while injecting unprecedented efficiency into a status-quo that threatens to swallow enterprise IT whole.

Debra Bulkeley has more than twenty years of experience in media, ranging from magazine to web site launches in the high technology industry. In her role with the IDG Enterprise Custom Solutions Group, Bulkeley works with clients and supervises writers to develop products that include custom magazines, white papers, advertorial supplements, videos, virtual conferences, web sites and webcasts that meet each client’s communications and marketing goals.
