OutSystems-based projects win “Best Practices in the Public Sector” Awards
DGAL and IRAR are recognized for Systems delivered with the Agile Platform
Lisbon - 23 June 2009
OutSystems®, provider of the industry-leading Agile Platform, announced that two of their customers in the Portuguese public sector have won “Best Practices in the Public Sector” awards for applications delivered using the Agile Platform.
With applications developed on OutSystems’ Agile Platform, DGAL (Direcção Geral das Autarquias Locais) and IRAR (Instituto Regulador de Águas e Resíduos) have won awards in the categories of “Citizen Service Award – Direct Central Administration and Regional Administration” and “Citizen Service Award – Indirect Central Administration and Public Utility Institutions” respectively.
DGAL’s winning project was the Online Urbanization and Edification Legal System, that allows users to submit online consultation requests to Central Administration entities (direct, indirect or autonomous) and Certifying entities, which can then release the pronounces or decisions about online projects and urban operations.
IRAR’s winning project was the Water Quality Module Portal, an e-government platform that enables the collection, management, aggregation and control of water quality data in more than 400 water supply service management entities, with a focus on improving the quality of drinking water.
Established in 2002, the “Best Practices in the Public Sector” Award is a Deloitte initiative developed in collaboration with INA (Instituto Nacional da Administração Pública) and FLAD (Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento).
About the Agile Platform
OutSystems’ Agile Platform is the first unified solution based on Agile methodologies to address the full life cycle of delivering and managing web business applications. It can be used to integrate existing systems, compose and automatically deploy new applications, manage them centrally and drive change during their entire life-cycle.
By automating Agile methodologies, OutSystems enables organizations to deliver applications that continuously reflect evolving business needs and bridge the gap between IT and business across the entire application life cycle. IT departments can now successfully clear out their application backlog and respond effectively to evolving business requirements, within existing IT budgets.
“OutSystems’ Agile Platform was an important added-value technology for the development and compliance of the outlined goals of this project, representing a real winning investment, as we can see by the attribution of this award”, said Paulo Maritti, Managing Director at DGAL.
“We believe that without OutSystems’ Agile Platform and the support of its team, we wouldn’t have been able to deploy the Water Quality Module Portal in a record time, that enabled us to achieve this award”, said João Simão Pires, IRAR’s Member of the Board.
“It’s an honor for OutSystems to contribute to the delivery of new applications that add value to our citizens. OutSystems’ technology has helped many public institutions achieve this goal over the years. IRAR and DGAL are a first-class example of what can be done and this recognition proves it”, said Paulo Rosado, CEO at OutSystems.
