WeDo Consulting Uses OutSystems Platform to Develop Pioneer Service at OI Brazil

Lisbon, Portugal - 09 June 2006

OutSystems and WeDo Consulting have announced the launch of the new mobile phone service portal of Oi Brazil. From now on, more than 10 million customers of Oi Brazil will have access to a pioneer service in the country through the new Oi Wap Portal.

The Portal’s new generation allows a more interactive usage of the mobile equipment, accessible through a new user-friendly interface that allows a simpler and more appealing user experience. Through the new Portal, customers will have access to a wide range of services such as music, images, games, fun and news, among others.

The Wap 2.0 Portal automatically adapts to different mobile equipments, presenting the most adequate interface and optimizing the user experience. The new portal can suggest additional topics related to the view the user is currently seeing. Using this contextual information the portal can for example recommend a link to Formula 1 videos when the user is downloading a car race game.

The new solution is based on the WeDo Consulting’s WZone, a platform for complete mobile support to data services (2,5 and 3G). This solution was created using OutSystems Platform, which provides the multi-channel support that allowed for the creation of a complete and easy to use web back office, as well as of a mobile front office that ensures high interaction via mobile phones. The scalability of OutSystems Platform guarantees the Portal’s availability even in high web traffic situations. WeDo Consultig’s in-depth knowledge of the OutSystems’ technology and agile development methodology made it the natural choice for this project.

The solution fosters the integration of this last generation mobile portal with the partner’s services, achieving this in a very simple and effective way. Through this platform, Oi offers its customers added value and innovative services that are easy to use and have a very appealing graphic interface.

“With this new solution, our customers will use the Portal more often, because they have gained usability with the simplification of the interface. Communication is also better addressed, since we can now choose to offer only the contents that each customer is interested in, based on usage profile. Besides, we have more agility in launching new content and a lot more efficiency in managing the services, through an online tool available for administration only”, says Fiamma Zarife, Telemar Group’s Director of Data Services.

According to Pedro Duque, Principal at WeDo Consulting, “this solution meets the requirements presented by Oi, with the purpose of providing its customers with a richer, more appealing and simpler experience, allowing the user to focus on the operator’s advanced services. This project strengthens the value of our competitive and technologically advanced solutions, in the global telecom market.”

Rui Pereira, OutSystems Vice-President Business Development, points out that “in highly competitive markets such as Telecom, operators are continuously developing new strategies, better products and increasingly complete services. OutSystems Platform allows companies to respond to these market dynamics, ensuring the creation and change of applications at the rhythm that the business requires”.
