I should have been a nurse. That’s what my parents wanted me to be. But at 17, I was still trying to figure out what I was born to do. Plus, I was more interested in meeting people on mIRC, an online chat room. I was chatting with people from all over the world. I loved it! However, one day, someone sent me a Trojan Horse, and my internet password was stolen. I was so desperate. I didn’t understand how it was possible to hack into someone else’s computer. What, at first, was desperation turned into curiosity. I began to visit hacker forums. I wanted to learn how to survive in this world I just discovered.
It didn’t take long for me to join the “dark side.” Yes, I became a hacker. And so, I wasn’t in danger anymore. I was the danger. Needless to say, I didn’t become a nurse. I didn’t become a hacker either. I was never a Darth Vader anyway. I became a PHP developer and later moved on to C#. I found OutSystems while looking for a new job. It was my first experience with a visual language. My first reaction? I thought I wasn’t going to be able to control the code and eventually I’d hit some sort of limitation. I’m a developer, and visual development seemed like a straightjacket. But once I really understood what was happening under the hood, I knew I was back in control. Some say I joined the “dark side” again, I say the fun has just begun.
