SEO on FrontEnd without ServiceCenter

SEO on FrontEnd without ServiceCenter

We have a new platform 7.0.1.15 installation with two nodes on Windows 2008 R2. One internal controller node with ServiceCenter installed and one FrontEnd node with external applications installed and which is accessible from the outside world.

We have this setup, because we will not allow that the ServiceCenter is accessible from the outside world.

We have installed the Isapi-filter on both nodes, but it is only working on the ServiceCenter node.
The log on the Controller node tells us that the site rule is created successfully.
The log on the FrontEnd node tells us that the site rule is not correct and can't be created.

Is it mandatory to install ServiceCenter on the nodes you want to be able to use with SEO?
If so, how can we avoid access to the ServiceCenter from the outside world?
Hi Remco,

Yes, Service Center needs to be running in all the nodes where you want the ISAPI filter to work - there's no way around it.

Our suggestion to your security question is to use the Internal Network feature of the platform: it allows you to define the IP ranges that can reach resources marked as Internal Access Only, which includes Service Center.

Cheers,

Miguel
