Ajax refresh from server

Hi guys,

Do you know if there is any way to do an ajax refresh on the clients screen when the server finishes a task?
Any clue about this?

Isn't that what Ajax actions already do ?

You ask the server to run a task (a screen action), and in the end (or even in the process of it) they'll refresh whatever is defined to be refreshed.

What particularity in your use-case is not covered by this scenario ?
Ok, I wasn't clear.

Click a button, an actions wakes a timer and, at the end of the timer (asyncronous), it refreshes a page.

You can do it, but it won't be *perfectly* synchronized. See, Timers run 100% separately from pages. But what you can do is provide a unique identifier, and have the timer set a flag in the database with that unique ID that says "refresh now" and have JavaScript on the page checking a VERY lightweight page/Web Service every second to see if the flag is set, and if it is, click a hidden button on the screen which is tied to an Action that will do the screen update and refresh.

I've done similar things to keep the screen from refreshing completely unless value have really changed, for example.

Thanks Justin! I think I'll give it a try!
