Hi krishnamani and welcome to the community!

It seems like the automatic license installation failed. Please visit this page to request a CE license and follow the steps shown there to upload it on Service Center:
http://www.outsystems.com/community/license/

Let me know if you encounter any more issues. ;)

Cheers,
Davide
krishnamani, were you able to set up your community edition?
If you still stuck you might want to take a look at the new personal environments! ;)
What does it take to get the community edition going? I'm guessing I install the platform server, get it running and then point my service studio at it?
Hi,

In summary, yes. However you will want to download the full installer - it is easy that way!

Install away - be sure to check the installation check list also.

Any problems... just ask.
Am I reading it right that his is going to be the last version of the community edition?
Hi Michael,

That's right. At this point there are no plans to release a new version of the Community Edition. Feel free to get in touch with us at success@outsystems.com to discuss your specific use case.

Cheers,
Davide
G'day Michael,

Just to clarify Davide's comments - they will support the community edition until the end of V8. i.e. there will be no V9 community eddition (sadly). Of course V9 will be supported in the PE.

@Mark, definitely! Thanks for bringing that up! :)
My concern is that there seems to be a hole in the pricing structure. For example my use case would be to create very simple update a table or two kind of apps, these would connect to internal databases, the devices would not have access to the internet so the cloud (PE) wouldn't really work for that. But at 30K a year this just doesn't make sense.

I guess its not just that the community edition is going away, it's that there isn't a way to buy outsystems lite. Something like a vmware type of 3 server starter pack??

It does depend on your strategy though, it seems like you are focusing on large enterprises, which is fine, but there are a whole lot of small to medium sized businesses that don't have developers on staff (or they are not full time developers) who would love to utilize the rapid development platform but are being priced out of it. I do a zillion different things from storage to virtualization to development. I like buying tools that increase my efficiency, for example one cool tool we use is Altova Mapforce. I can easily clear this purchase because its under the 10K threshold. If I go to my boss with a 30K all he does is laugh at me.

 This check list ? http://www.outsystems.com/goto/checklist-8-NET

Hi Michael,

It's 2 alternatives:
  1. the community Edition installer does all the necessary steps of the checklist (unless something fails) and installs all 3 components
  2. If you go with the separated installers, then you have to manually do the steps on the checklist you linked and then apply a community license (that you can get on link Davide posted above).

So I used the http://www.outsystems.com/goto/Download-CommunityEdition-Installer

Is there a place I should download Service Studio 8.0.0.15 if I wanted to install it on some other machine, or can I go with a more current Service Studio?

For community edition you must stick with the 8.0.0.x version as the 8.0.1.x version is not compatible.

As for the eariler issue where you are doing some small projects using the community edition.  Even though you know version 8 will become unsupported at some point in time that doesn't mean it will stop working.  You can and should continue to use it for any small projects you have.  You should have many years before there would be any issues I'm fairly certain.  I still have people using Microsoft Frontpage to develop web sites and it's been unsupported for a very long time.  :-)
Hi Michael,

You can find older downloads in the download page by clicking on the "All versions" link.
Here is a direct link for the Service Studio 8.0.0.16 :
