connecting to environment

connecting to environment

I've just installed the Service Studio and was prompted to login at localhost with the admin user and asked for a password.
Wich password is this?
I've tried my Outsystem password, my Outsystem user and password and a new password, but always get the error: "There was an error contacting 'localhost': Connection failed"
Does anyone know what is happening?
David
Hi David,

Welcome to our community. Can you guide me thru the steps you took to install Service Studio? Did you register for a personal environment? Or you just downloaded Service Studio?
Hi André,

I've just clicked the "Get Started" option and followed the instructions.

At Step 1 : Grab the desktop app!, clicked on the button "dowload & install", downloaded the ServiceStudio-8.0.1.5.exe and installed it.

When I enter the app and try to connect get this error "There was an error contacting 'localhost': Connection failed".

Then I downloaded and installed the PlatformServer-8.0.0.24. Started the service but I'm still getting the same error.

David
I think I can eliminate your confusion.  You are doing steps for two different versions of the platform.

For the Personal Environment (the cloud verion - version 8.0.1.xx)

1) Go here - http://www.outsystems.com/get-started/ - and sign up for your setup in the cloud
2) Grab the desktop app (Service Studio version 8.0.1.xx) and install
3) Run Service Studio and when asked to connect change 'localhost' to the URL assigned to you from step 1.  Use your Outsystem community login credentials for username and password and it should work.

For the Community Edition (the self-hosted version - version 8.0.0.xx)

1) Download and install the community edition which consists of the Platform Server, Integration Studio and Service Studio.  All of them are at http://www.outsystems.com/home/downloads/.
2) Run Service Studio and use 'localhost' and 'admin/admin' as the credentials and that should work.

IMPORTANT NOTE - The two versions are NOT compatible!!  Use one or the other but not both unless you follow very specific instructions on how to do that.  I strongly recommend the cloud version as it eliminates almost all of the community edition restrictions.

Hope this helps.

Ok, it was a problem with the Google Chrome. It didn't enabled the step 2 to start the app with my outsystems user.
When i tried with MS Explorer worked.

Thanks
Curt,

Just wanted to say thank you for the super helpful response. We really appreciate that you took the time to detail it.

More than happy to do that as I have benefitted greatly from the community.  Takes me back to when I managed technical support for a small company.  :-)
