Help loading, parsing, updating and storing a file

I would like to import a file from my HD, parse it, and then save it to my HD.  The file could be wordpad or word. The input is of the form "firstname lastname (firstlast@yahoo.com) firstlast@yahoo.com"     Essentially, it's an export of an Outlook distribution list. I want to 1) parse the file to discard all but keep what's inside the "(" and ")" 2) replace the "(" with "<" and ")" with ">" 3) delete the first "<" and the last ">" and 4) prompt the user to store the file.  Having trouble finding out if the system has a striing parser that can do this. - Thanks
Hi David,

Unfortunately there's no out-of-box component or feature to do what you want.
Since both wordpad and word by default work with binary files you will need to create an extension to handle this. There's a lot of information out there to load word documents in c# (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1011234/how-to-extract-text-from-ms-office-documents-in-c-sharp), the best one would be to use the Open XML format.

Cheers
