1) create an application, and add a responsive espace. The first espace becomes the home application by default, if you create additional modules for your application, the home espace style is referenced to your new application modules. If you move your home espace to another application, then you create a new application in your existing solution, then set this as home, service studio is not going to auto reference the espace anymore, even if you set the espace as a home espace. There's no way to fix this either! You simply have to create a new app espace and migrate everything over to the new app espace.
Just curious: why are you doing this sequence of events in the first place?

It's not something that someone wants to do to cause problems for himself!; sometimes when you start to refactor your application , you start to move eSpace around and then you might want to select a specific application to become the "home" application.

Where as, setting an application to "Home" should mean it becomes the default parent eSpace for all eSpace modules within an application. (just like when you create a new application).

There is no way to set up an eSpace as the parent home application after you break it, you have no settings to reconfigure it, your only option is to start an entire new application to fix this issue of simply wanting to setup a default/parent "home" application for your refactored solution - this is a problem.
