handling a Session timeout

handling a Session timeout

HI

We have an internal application that staff tend to leave open for long periods of time.  However, when the application is left sitting idle and then you click any link you get this error:

This is the url for the word ‘here’ in the above image:
http://ourserver.cmc.ca/SSO/SSOExceptions.UnregisteredHandler.aspx?OriginalURL=https%3a%2f%2fcompetitions.cmc.ca%2fFACTService%2fEditScoping.aspx%3fAFRid%3d47%26popup%3dTrue%26_%3d1427120531660

I understand that this is a session timeout issue (20 mins is the .net default) but I don’t know how to make it handle things in a more elegant way! ??

Is it possible to have a popup that states the session has timed out and if the user clicks a refresh button everything is reset and will function as usual?

Any advice would be appreciated.

BTW, i just noted that the url above is using http:// and should be https:// but i don't know how to fix that!

Thanks
Tammy
We have simular issues.  Any response to this question?
Hi
For others who may experience this:
From the error you have sent us and the description of the use case, it seems like there is a session timeout occurring in IIS. You can try to increase the session timeout of your web server by following the instructions that are here https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725820%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
