Existing systems need to be replaced as outsystem. Information on whether the batch processing of some of the details of it?
Hello Yu Yang,

Can you elaborate on your requirement a bit?

Do you need to replace existing systems running batch processing with an OutSystems application, or do you need to replace existing OutSystems system and need additional information about a Timers or Processes?

Thanks

Cheers

Hello Yu Yang,

Thanks for the clarification.

If you're planning in replacing batch processing done by Cobol Programs with OutSystems technology, depending on the batch processing requirements, you may use Timers or BPT Processes.

They both support asynchronous logic execution, but while Timers are a single thread execution usually for time bound operations within the minutes time range, the BPT Processes allow parallel executions, with multiple atomic activitites where each process can take hours or even days, out of the box.

If your batch processing loads data into a database from another source, and takes less then an hour, I would say you can built a timer. But if processes information from the database, which can take hours or days, you can create a BPT Process with activities to process each record, or set of records.

You can find more architectural details in this document.

Hope this information is helpful.

Cheers

Hi Cheers

The PDF(Timers and Asynchronous Processes) information is helpful !
I am beginner.I need to spend a few days to study this.
Do you have any suggestions on beginners for the Exam(Associate Developer)?

Regards,
Yu Yang

Hello Yu Yang

Glad I could help! Regarding the associate developer exam, usually the Developer Bootcamp iclassroom training does cover the the basics required for the exam, but if you prefer to get certified without attending the classroom training, I do recommend to check the Certification Path document, which includes a link to a Certification Study  kit, which should help in the study for your Associate Exam.

Thanks
