Lately I've been having occasional issues with the ASP State database locking up and, while imagining theories on why this would happen, I wondered whether timers use up sessions and, if they do, if the session database transaction remains open for the full duration of the timer?
Does anyone know the answer?
A timer is just like any user and runs in its own session. This session is only released after the timer finishes and the session cleanup process of IIS runs.
