We have a system developed for 1 time zone.  We are moving to support multiple time zones.

What we want to do is set the base time of our platform to be UTC and store all date/time data in our db as UTC.  Then, depending on which campus is associated with the date being read out of or written to the DB, change from UTC to local time.  However, this would mean that anywhere in our app that we are using time we would have to do this conversion.  Is there a better way to do this?

Hi Jason,

That is the proper way of doing it.

Is there a utility that will do the local time conversion automatically based on perhaps the device location or perhaps from location info from the http request?

Hi Bruce,

If you want to represent dates in local format in a mobile app take a look at this http://www.outsystems.com/forge/component/1585/Globalization+Plugin/

NICE thanks!  Is there a similar utility for web apps?
