Frontpage extensions in production servers

You can detect that FrontPage Extensions are installed or were installed in the past if you have shared _vti* web directories.

As per OutSystems' and Microsoft's best practices, FrontPage Extensions should not be installed on any production server.
We recommend uninstalling them from any server on which Hub Edition is deployed.
However, be aware that Visual Studio may require FrontPage Extensions to be installed on a server in order to be able to open ASP.NET projects.

You can find up to date information on how to secure a Hub Edition installation in our Installation Checklist available on our extranet. This file is also packaged with OutSystems Hub Server.

If you'd like to read more on securing your servers you can also find more information on Microsoft's site.
In particular the Windows 2000 Security Hardening Guide should prove very useful.
