facebook / instagram or any external site wont connect

HI, im new to outsystems. i have created menus in my app using silk UI mobile theme and then i have linked them with external sites i.e; social media sites but Im not able to open any of the external links. In fact for some reason it takes me back to the home screen of the app.

Can anyone help?

Hi hafsa,

Are you sure the links to the external sites are correct? If you don't start them with http:// or https://, your browser may prepend the domain name of your current site, which could explain what you see.

When you hover over the menu item, what URL do you see at the bottom of your browser?

Hi Kilian,

Thank u for replying. Well when I hover over to these links I don't see anything. Yes I have used https:// for the links. If I test the app in my device the links goes back to the main home screen of the app instead of loading the external link I have added.

Hi hafsa,

If you hove the link and don't see anything, this explains why it doesn't work. Can you include here your eSpace, so I can take a look at what goes wrong?

Hi Kilian,

as i said im new to outsystems.Could you explain what do you mean by including the espace? Shall i send the oml fine or what? If yes shall I send it on this board?

Hi hafsa,

I indeed meant to include the eSpace here, in a new message. There's a "Choose File" button below the message input area.

attached is the file. Please have a look at it.

Hi hafsa,

I encountered some problems with your eSpace, the menu didn't work at all. I'm not sure why, and I have no time to further investigate for now. However, as for the external links, keep in mind that these won't work when testing the app in a browser. On a real device, there will be a browser installed that will handle http(s) links, but there's no handling for it in the emulator.

Solution

Hi, I started creating the app deleting the old one and everything worked perfectly fine. This mean I might have deleted something accidently that wasnt letting me link my pages. Thank You for your time any way.

Solution

Hi hafsa,

Great you've managed to solve it.
