Silk UI Mobile Version 1.4.3 fixes a Chrome breaking change

Silk UI Mobile Version 1.4.3 fixes a Chrome breaking change

Hi everyone!

Google has just released version 61 of Chrome for desktop and with it, introduced a breaking change that directly impacts the Preview in Devices of Mobile apps.

This results in an error when using the navigator.connection API which returns an error message while viewing the application inside the Preview in Devices on Chrome desktop.

This does not affect mobile devices in any way.

To solve the issue, update Silk UI Mobile for version 1.4.3 and the error will be gone forever :)

Thank you! If you have further questions or come across any issues, contact support or discuss here :)

Thanks Marina, that was some swift action there!

Thanks Marina, It was of great help.

Hello Marina

I'm assuming that when you say "This does not affect mobile devices in any way." it means that there is no need to create a new version to deliver to the app stores, correct?

Thank you.

Best regards,

PC

Hi!

Yes, no need to submit your apps to the store, but more than that: this issue does not happen for mobile apps at all.

The issue happens when previewing apps in the Desktop version of Chrome (Preview in Devices).

We're trying to be proactive on this matter because Google might introduce this change for Chrome Mobile at any time and we want to make sure all apps will be ready for it, so, we suggest to upgrade Silk UI to prevent any issues in the future.

My regards

Thx Dinis.

We noticed that change in the Preview in Devices, upgraded and it's working perfectly now.

The question about the stores reupload, was just to double check, since it required to publish the app to get the Silk update to work properly, if it had any impact that made it a requirement to push the app to the stores again. Apparently it's all ok :)

Thx
