Global Temporary Table

Global Temporary Table

Is there a concept like Oracle's Global Temporary Table (GTT) in OutSystems where "an entity"(table) is private (per session basis)?

IB

Solution

Hi,

No. There are no such a concept.

You have session variables that are "private" per session in the sense that every session has its own copy.

You can also have entities that you use the session identifier to identify rows for that session, for example, but you would need to create extra logic ti deal with it.

Solution

Thank you Eduardo,

Using session to identify rows for that session is a solution. However, it will grow up the entity's record number if many users access the same entity. The performance could also be affected as horizontally there is a new flag column and vertically more records to select.

And i think it is a good idea if OutSystems has it.

Yes.

That is the reason of you having the need to create extra logic to deal with it, like removing old records from past sessions, etc.

In fact, session variables are stored in database and the system takes care of this for you.

But is not a temporary table per session.
