Buying a new laptop in combination with Outsystems ....

Hi All,

I am new to Outsystems and an Apple-lover (don't shoot me ;-) ) I am looking to buy a new laptop and would love to buy a Macbook pro, run parallels and then install Outstems 10 Studio.

I have read on the forum that this can work, but does it take a lot of resources from the laptop ?

Is anybody on the forum doing this ? And if so please share your experiences ?

A huge thanks in advance

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I know a lot of developers at OutSystems have themselves MacBooks, so it is definitely possible.Service Studio is not that resource intensive, it uses a single core and on average about 1-2GiB of memory.

Hi thanks for the reply !

Do you happen to know what they run for the windows environment ? Parallells of something else ?

Solution

Hi Stefan,

I run Windows under Parallels in a MacBook Pro.

It runs pretty smooth. And nothing beats the Mac's touchpad.

Solution

Hi Stefan,

You can also run VirtualBox and use 90-day free Windows versions from Microsoft https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/
