How to increase JBoss log level for troubleshooting

Symptoms:

While troubleshooting a J2EE OutSystems Platform issue, the available JBoss log file placed in /opt/jboss-4.0.3SP1/server/outsystems/log/server.log is scarce in information. This will prevent the disclosure of the error cause.

Resolution:

To solve this, one need to increase the log level to its maximum so that everything entitled to could be logged. To achieve this take the following steps:

1) Access and edit file: /opt/jboss-4.0.3SP1/server/outsystems/conf/log4j.xml

2) Update all existing Threshold parameter values to ALL

<param name="Threshold" value="ALL"/><br />

3) Replicate the problem so that it could be logged with the updated level.

This new setting will increase the number of dumped info, after overcoming the problem the Threshold parameter value should be restored to its original state.
