External Database connection - password with ';'

External Database connection - password with ';'

Hi,

I'm trying to create a database connection to an external oracle database.

The password contains the ';' character in it (consider, for example, that password is 123df;gtoijtg).

When I try to insert this configuration in Service Center and test the connection, I get the following error:

"Connection String test failed: Connection string is not well-formed"

How can I define a connection with a password with a character like this? I don't want to test many alternatives because this is a production user and I don't want to lock it....

Thanks in advance.

Nuno

@Nuno

Maybe it's not the password but some other little detail in the string.

Compare it with some other examples. There are some here.

Hi João,

It is the password, because if I change the ';' to another character, it works...

Solution

Ok, answering my own question:

we need to enclose the password with double quotes.

So, if your password is 123df;gtoijtg, you need to put "123df;gtoijtg" in the password field!
