Entity Imported from Excel - No data shown

Entity Imported from Excel - No data shown

Hey,

I have created a new entity from Excel. My question is, how do I know that the data have been imported sucesfully?

I tried "View Data" option, but no records are shown. The Excel file has 7220 records to be imported.

We are using Platform Version 10 and the environment is on-premises.

Thanks a lot,

Marios

Hi Marios,

You need to publish for the data to be imported into the entity. And then you can see it in the "View Data". This is because the importing of the data is bound to a timer that will run after you publish the module.

Have you publish the module?

Cheers,

José

Hey Marios,

You didn't get the data because you didn't published the module. When you bootstrap the data from excel Outsystems creates a timer that runs when that module is published.

Try checking it after publishing, then you will get your records.

I forgot to mention that I did publish the module.

Hi Marios,

Did you check the excel header are exactly the same as your entity attributes?

Pant

Hey Pant,

Yes, I did. After all, I'm using "Import Entities from Excel", not "Update Action To Bootstrap Data From Excel"

I have to say it is a big file (3 MB, around 11000 rows)

Thanks,

Marios

Hi Marios,

Could you check in Service Center that the timer has run:

  • Go to the eSpace/Module (Factory -> eSpaces) where the Timer is
  • Click on the Timers tab to see the timers
  • There you can check when was the last time that the Timer run
  • Click on "Timer Log" to check the logs for the Timer to see if there is any error message

Post here the error or messages that you found if you can not understand them.

Cheers,

José

Solution

I checked the error log and the error was "String or binary data would be truncated."

So, I checked the size of the data for two Text Attributes I am using and made the size larger.

And It worked.

Thanks, everyone!
