Tip on how to get OfficeUtils generating flawless docx files

Tip on how to get OfficeUtils generating flawless docx files

Working with OfficeUtils was kind of cumbersome since the template did not replace the placeholders as expected. IN one of the disscussion items it was explained that this had to do with the several runs Word seems to register, splitting up your placeholder in many cases.

I got the template working fine by first creating a template with stakeholders, not caring about the different runs Word is creating in the background. Next open the .docx file with LibreOffice (I used Version: 6.0.1.1 (x64)) and just save the file as a .docx file. Now upload this file as the resource in your project (under the DATA tab | resources). Now your template should work flowless.

Hope it saves you a lot of time finding out why the OfficeUtils extension is not generating the results you expect.

Hello, thank you very much for your tips. But, what do you mean by "several runs Word seems to register"?

See the discussion about this on https://www.outsystems.com/forums/discussion/26534/placeholder-not-replaced-on-word-word-export-settable-action/#Post97126 from Elena Novozhilova
