How to import existing large SQL Server DB into Outsystems - Web application

Hi Team,

Can you please help us to migrate our large existing database to Out systems. It has more than 500 tables. We want to keep everything in Out systems at one place and no additional infra management we want to perform.

Details - Currently using SQL server 2012.

Thanks,

Anuradha

Hi Anuradha,

Did you check the documentation?

Hi Anuradha,

You can external connect  to your old database as Kilian suggested and copy everything to Outsystems tables, you can also do it through sql or you can try to use this component https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component/2812/infosistema-dmm/

Hi Team,

Thanks for your reply!

In your first way we have to maintain additional database separately in SQL server, which we do not want.

In second way there is additional purchase cost

Is there any other way than the two given by you.

Thanks,

Anuradha

Hi Anuradha,

The choice is either between copying the data to OutSystems, or to connect to the database via Integration Studio.

Hey Kilian,

This is exactly we are asking about, simple steps to copy same data structure in the outsystems and then copy

the data to it from existing one.

Thanks,

Anuradha

Well, I can't see another way to do this than manually, which will be a gargantuan task with > 500 tables. There is just no way to automatically model Entities in OutSystems. Once you have the Entities, you can fill them from SQL (copying the data from the original tables), but you'd really have to ask yourself if it's something you want to do. Why not use Integration Studio to import the tables and use them as-is?
