Download the database

Can I download our data? I don't mean exporting a single table or recrod set in Excel, but actually get the data off the system so it can be used/viewed elsewhere.

I Justin,

What is your use case?

You can always export to Excel what you need. There's an example:

In this case, I have a Screen action associated to a button that do the export.

It's this that you need?

Ricardo

My boss said, "get me the data that has been collected on the system".

I said, "Do you need a report? Do you need an API that can return info for another system."

He said, "I want the data, the tables of data for something different. A CSV file for each table, anything useable."

Granted, I could create a screen action and download each table into an Excel file, but I figured there must be an easier way.

Solution

You can export it to Excel (like you can see in preview post) and you can do it with multiple sheets with this: https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component-overview/687/officeutils.

If you want csv you can try this from forge: https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component-overview/636/csvutil

Hope this can help you.

Best regards,

Ricardo

You're welcome! ;)

On the PaaS version you can request direct read access to your SQL servers and Outsystems support will give you credentials you can use. From there you can use SQL management studio or and SSIS package to extract data directly from your server. I think you may need an VPN connection and there will be costs involved but if you need to do an extract regularly this is a good option.
