Icons as a font: cannot extend an existing font

Hi,

The story is as follows:

 • I want to use some other set of icons than FontAwesome (i.e. RichWidgets\Icon)
 • I've chosen the Google's Material Icons
 • then I've downloaded everything from the GIT repository and made the font being hosted by ma application
 • as far as good; everything works
 • but then I wanted to add some additional icon to the font
 • I've chosen FontForge as the font editor
 • so I've added my new icon an the end of the font
 • after that all "old" icons are displayed as previously; but instead of the new icon I get only an empty rectangle
 • and this is not the case of a badly built icon - when I substitute any of old icons wit the new one, this new icon is displayed pretty well
 • it seems to be some issue with the structure of the font itself

Has anybody an idea what is going on?

Regards

Tomasz

Solution

Well, I've solved my problem by myself. The core of the issue was my misunderstanding how it works, that to display properly a tag like: delete as a trash bin the word "delete" must be defined as a ligature represented by this icon….

So, I've added required ligatures and all new icons are now properly displayed.
