Search Balloon vs Input Autocomplete

Hello !

I want to create an input field that dynamically queries the database while I type and which presents a list of matching records.  I then need to be able to select the desired record from the list and populate a set of fields from the attributes of the selected record.

Should I use a search balloon widget or an input autocomplete rich widget ?  What are the pros and cons of each ?

Many thanks, Richard.

Hi Richard Pearce,

I'd use a search balloon, it seems easier to implement, with a better appearance, fit for your purpose, and is delivered along with OutSystems UI widgets.

See here more info about... the search-balloon:

... and about input auto-complete:

Cheers!

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the answer and for the links.  It is not clear from the Search Balloon widget fields or from the documentation article how I can populate a set of fields from the attributes of the selected record.

Do you know how ?

Cheers, Richard.
