Hello everyone!

Our database administration team is going to migrate our production database from MS sql server 2008 to MS Sql server 2016. The server name will remain the same. So, 
- We going to stop the iis and the outsystems services. 
- they will restore the database backup on the new server, shut down the old server and lift the new one that will have the same name .
- we test the connections through the configuration tool and then we restart the services and the iis if ok.  

Our platform  version is 7.  

  • Are these the correct steps?
  • After the migration, do we have to request a new license ?

Hi Ricardo,

you have a very old version of OutSystems and SQL Server 2016 may not be supported. In version 8 it's not - http://www.outsystems.com/goto/System-Requirements-8 (probably it didn't existed by then).

Version 7 is also not supported.


Nevertheless the steps described are not enough, take a look at the steps for version 9.0 - https://success.outsystems.com/Support/Archive/9.0/Migrate_an_Environment_Using_a_Database_Clone

You need to remove some info from the database and then run the configuration tool.

My advise is for you to upgrade  your environment and then migrate the database.

If you upgrade or change server you need a new license. MAC Address is used to validate license so if you change it you will need a new one.
