I have use case where the customer would like to separate search values in an search input field using the tab key. This is for a Web Application.

So for example the user would enter : Field1 {Tab} Field2 {Tab}  Field1.

We would then need to extract these fields and proceed with the search.

Is there a way to implement this functionality? I've also though of using input masks for the field, but since the length of each field can be different I don't think this will be a solution.

Thanks,

Lennard

Erm... Tab almost universally means "go to next input field". How on earth does somebody think it's a good idea to use it as seperator in an input????

I am not sure if the {TAB} will work or not , but I have implemented with a "-" .. I had used Materialize UI Input box with a formatter.

Hi Lennard,

It's indeed an unusual use case to use a Tab as a separator.

If you would use a delimiter like a comma for example, you could easily implement this by using the String_Split action from the TextAPI which will return a list of your Search values.

Nordin

It is possible in the current windows application. That's the reason I guess.

Yes, well, perhaps you should educate them about near-universal web standards :).

This was also my suggestion. But the current way of work is why they would like to keep this functionality.

I will deliberate with then.
