Consumption of a REST web service

I am creating an inventory management system with outsystems 11.

I would like to consume a web service to display an image of an item when that item is created in the system.

I have looked online for such a web service but i cant  find it.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi Billy, check this lesson and exercises from the Bootcamp, it does exactly what you want

Hi Billy,

Check this documentation

Hi all,

The question is not how to consume RESTful APIs, it is where to find such APIs.

I hope this makes it understandable.

Thanks

Billy

Consume RESTful Web Services. Consuming web services allows you to extend your applications and business processes with capabilities that are provided by various third parties. The input and output of REST request is typically JSON texts. REST web services are generally simple and easy to construct.

So, what you need is a public API that you consume, when you create a new item in your inventory managment system? For example, you call these API, looking for an EAN and getting an image for this product?

You have some providers like Amazon that expose some API with products information : https://webservices.amazon.com/paapi5/documentation/images.html

But in my opinion you will not find any public api with a product catalog that works for any product.

Thank you.

Hi Billy,

When you say "I have looked online for such a web service but i cant  find it.", what you refer to?

Did you remember what company or system provides that service/API?

What are you looking for?

Luis

Hi Billy,

I agree with all others. You will not find a web service that you can consume to have the product images of the products that you want to store.

But you can try some of the public APIs like this below just to see how others have exposed the rest APIs for their inventory
