Solution

Hi Bindu,

Currently the PATCH method is only available for Consumed REST API. You can set the HTTP Method property of a consumed REST API Method to GET, PUT, POST, DELETE or PATCH.

The platform does not yet support PATCH for Exposed REST API. It is something that is on OutSystems’ radar, but you can upvote this idea to bring it more under attention.

As for exercises, afaik currently there are not any exercises around using PATCH for Consumed REST API. There are some exercises around consuming other REST API Methods.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bindu,

Just to add to what Nordin mentioned, there are some tricky workarounds for it.

One commonly used in this situation is to have your consumers connect to an API manager (like Mulesoft) which supports PATCH. Then the API manager translates that into a PUT and forward the request to a PUT exposed web service in OutSystems.

Not ideal, but it is a way of making it work and which is in place on some customers with that need.

Cheers,
João
