Tip: Using your GMAIL account to send emails from the Community Edition

Hi,

I would like to leave a tip on how to configuration the OutSystems email dispatcher in order to use your gmail account.

To do this configuration, do the following:
  1. Login to servicecenter with administrator permissions;
  2. Open the tab ADMINISTRATOR / Email and set the following data:
    • SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
    • SMTP Port: 587
    • Username: <your_gmail_address@gmail.com>
    • Password: <your gmail password>
    • Default Sender Email: <your_gmail_address@gmail.com>
    • Default Sender Name: <Your Name>
  3. Open the tab ADMINISTATOR / Server Configuration and make sure the DNS Name is correctly filled in (normally  localhost)

Hi Daniel,

Does the Campaign app use the default sender name and email above or does it use "reply-to email" and "Sender" fields in the app?

Otherwise whats the best way to set this up for internal use?

Thanks,
Calvin Terblanche
Hi Calvin, yes.

You can see in the Campaigns application model that the Campaign. From and Campaign.ReplyTo fields are used when sending the campaign emails.

These fields are set in the Campaign creation screen.

Daniel and Folks,

Does nayone know how I could use the free personal environment to configure it to send emails through my App? It appears Google blocks the platform from sending emails through my App and I don't know how I could bypass or satisfy Google's requirements while also satisfying the need to send emails through the free personal environment platform and my App.

Thanks

Hello Seth,

Please, do not wake dead posts (more than 3 months old). We don't want to start the Zumbi Apocalypse. ;)
Create a new one.

Or search the forum before, as there are topics answering this question already.
