Silverlight UI

Hi,

Is it possible to use Silverlight UI components (such as grid, menu etc.) as part of Outsystems agile platform? We love the agile framework and would love to use more rich/interactive UIs than AJAX.

You could embed a Silverlight app in an Agile Platform page, but since Agile Platform generates HTML (like any other Web platform), you can't embed SL components directly in it.

Has anyone develeoped an OutSystems application with a Silverlight UI as detailed in the following article?

What would be some of the downsides of such an implementation? I understand that we'll lose the rapid UI generation capability, but was curious to know of any real life experiences.

I did something very similar to this using Adobe Flash Builder (Adobe Flex) and created a UI which called many data services layers, including one from Outsystems.  Adobe saw the outsystems platform as a C# web service, just like any other.  The only trick was telling Flex that Outsystems was putting out wsdl 1.1 definitions versus wsdl 2.0 (1.2) version.   Other than that, it consumed the outsystems service just fine.

That looks like a potentially good approach to get the functionality that you need.
