Best way to bootstrap data for several entities

I'm in a project where several entities need to be bootstrapped due to having a lot of records and they hold the same data between environments. Right now, we use excel bootstrap and it has to run when we deploy the the next environment. Problem is, in the bootstrap application, we have a huge switch for each entity/concept. Should we just organize it better or is there a better way to approach this?

Well, if you're really talking a huge amount of data, with lots of interdependencies, you could think of buying one of the professional data movers, Cool Data Mover or Infosistema Data Migration Manager.

Otherwise you're pretty much dependent on coding it, whether a huge switch or some other mechanism.

Hello Tony,

If you are having some knowledge on SSIS packages,

Then you can create SSIS packages for tables and just execute them when you switch between environments.

Thanks,

You could make a rest API to load the data from one to the other environment. If for obvious reasons you don't want a direct application integration between two environments you can also use two API services one to export the rested entities to a JSON file. The other to import an exported JSON file.
