Displaying location from database on map
Application Type
Reactive

Hello everyone,

I'm new to OutSystems and trying to learn while making a reactive web app.

The thing I want in short is: getting a location from database and display that on a map component on the page.

What are the steps to do that?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sara,

Welcome to the OutSystems community.

For a good answer, it is important that you specify in your question if you are building a reactive or mobile application, or maybe even a traditional web application.

You can edit your question and then press Application Type button and select the correct type.

Daniel

Hi Sara,

Welcome!

For maps, there are multiple options you can use. The ones I am most comfortable with are Google maps and Leaflet.

The difference between the two of them is that for Google maps you will have to pay for the API key, as you go to production.

Leaflet is free and you can use it this component here https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component-overview/6907/leafletjs-reactive.

I used the web version but the the documentation seems quite clear.

The only thing is that you will have to convert your database address into Latitide and Longitude coordinates.

The GeocodeAddress function should help you with that.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Larisa
