11.15.0 (Build 35089)

I have this action with no output. The aggregate gets 1 record from the 'Project' table which has 9 columns, and assigns two of these columns to two local variables. Will the platform optmize the query and only fetch the two columns i'm assigning to the variables or will all of the 9 columns be fetched?

It would fetch all the 9 columns as you have isolated the aggregate in a  server action . Please check below link
