Encoding problem on dropdown search with accents
Question
Service Studio Version
11.14.14 (Build 59923)

Hi,

I'm trying to use a dropdown search to check my client list and most of them have accents on their names.

Objective is while using IF's check which clients have paid on hold or not. If the client has no accent it generates the application correct. However with an accent it never passes forward while searching the name on the list.

By putting and notification i noticed the message i'lll post attached. Is there a way with encoding or so for names with accents??

Hi David,

You need to follow below steps -

1. First install html-utils forge component using below URL -

https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component-overview/145/html-utils

2. Add reference of this component to your module using manage dependencies.

3. If you are importing data from excel then OutSystems created an server action with name like BootstrapPersons.

4. Call HtmlToText to decode the html character for name column and use HtmlToText.Text result in assignment as per below screens-

Thanks

Vinod

Hi David,

You need to decode html to text. Please use below forge component for that -

https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component-overview/145/html-utils

Thanks

Hi Vinod,

I'm not decoding html to text. Its client names from an excel that i'm importing that have accents, such as "Ângela, Vítor, etc". That wont let me search for their name, because the name contains accents and generates special characters when stored on a variable. Which u can see in the attachement. If i try with a name such as "Tiago, Rui" it finds it with no problem.

Hi David,

While importing data from excel to entity you need to decode the excel data to text.

Thanks
