What happen when an existing attribute of an entity is renamed?

Which of the following change in an existing attribute with data populated is allowed?

string to number, number to string, binary to string, string to Boolean

What is BPT timeout? Can we change it?

which property should be the best used to check if there are any records return by the query?

Hi Pradip,

Please see the following link regarding data model changes, you can find your answers there. https://success.outsystems.com/Documentation/11/Reference/OutSystems_Language/Data/Database_Reference/How_Data_Model_Changes_are_Handled

Regarding the BPT timeout, this might help https://success.outsystems.com/Support/Troubleshooting/Application_runtime/BPT_-_Automatic_Activities_Timeout.

The property that you should check is the "Empty". More on that here https://itnext.io/which-property-to-see-if-a-query-has-results-9c51139084b5

Hope this helps,

Pedro

Hi Pradip,

Adding to above comment you can find the data type conversion functions below .

BPT - Default timeout is of 5 minutes
We can not configure/set change its default value. please correct if i am wrong.

Rename Attribute - OutSystems creates a new column with the new name in the database. The old column with all its data remains in the database untouched.

property should be the best used to check if there are any records return by the query - List.Empty

If an automatic activity takes more than 5 minutes you should restructure your process and use a timer to process that heavy logic

Which of the following change in an existing attribute with data populated is allowed?

TextToInteger() & IntegerToText() - Is valid

Both are allowed. However, the conversion is done by the database management system you are using, so the possible data conversions might differ depending on the database.

If you change an attribute to a data type that is impossible to cast, TrueChange will give you an error and you won't be able to publish
