Demo Session: See What High-Performance Looks Like

Hello, dear OutSystems community!

I hope that this message finds you all well and safe.

We are promoting a new demo series episode to explain to everyone new to OutSystems how powerful our platform is.

This session will cover:

If you are starting with OutSystems please check below for more details about the topics discussed during the episode:

Guided and Automated Development

Augmenting The Work of OutSystems Developers With AI-Assisted Development

Start from Existing Apps Available in Service Studio

Create Your First Reactive Web App

Use a Forge Component Made by the Community

We want your input and feedback:

  • Please let us know if there are any specific topics you would like to see covered in these series.

Lastly, but not least, don't forget about The OutSystems Software Innovation Conference. This year, we’re unifying NextStep and OSDC into a single cross-disciplinary virtual experience. Join the global community of developers for this opportunity to learn with top development talent and inspiring keynotes and guest speakers.

Register now and we hope to see you there!

Thank you, and enjoy the Summer!

Great Work!

Hi everyone, just to an update about this last webinar!

The outcome of the webinar is already available in the Forge, feel free to explore it:

Find below a compilation of the Questions & respective answers that popped up during the webinar:

  •  Can I add table directly from SQL Database?
  • License is per developer or application user?
  • Can we export to excel multiple entity in a single downloading action?
    • Yes, you can accomplish this. You may need to define a group of records that may respond to the same trigger event to export these values to an Excel sheet, but it's simple and doable.
  • Can it integrate with Azure DevOps?
  • Where the database physically will be created ? XML files or SQL DB ?
    • In this session we were not integrating with external databases, we were using the internal database server (Microsoft SQL Server Database), our clients can choose between Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or Azure SQL Database. The free environments are using behind the scenes one Microsoft SQL Server Database.
  • Is there any difference between list widget and table widget?
    • Yes, the list widget is usually used to define a list of similar records (data type),
the table widget is used to define multiple records of different data types in one or
      more columns.
  • We saw that we could edit and filter our initial SQL load when opening a screen. How can we optimize the data load for big data applications? Are we able to write custom SQL statements? Is there any further support for optimisations like analytics?
    • You can create your own custom SQL statements for any aggregate (SQL query). You can
define your SQL in the Properties window of the aggregate.
As far as optimization, there is a lot of documentation on Performance Best Practices.
If there is a specific question, we are happy to help out!
  • How OutSystems app handles App Internationalization?
    • Yes. OutSystems enables the translation of apps into different languages (internationalization). A default language is used for design and execution, which is then translated. OutSystems also supports right-to-left rendering and Unicode. For more information, visit this link
  • Is there a possibility to add localizations to the application? Different languages, number formats, date formats? How can one customize the translations?
    • Check out our training course to help you create a Multi-Language experience for your applications. This course is only 15-20mins long and will respond to many of your questions.
  • Based on the current status, can the dropdown list of status be filtered?
    • Yes, you can create a cascading logic so that the dropdown displays the values based on a user selection or data value. See also this video
  • You mentioned in the slide that RESTful webservices can be configured as the source. Can OData standard be also consumed?
  • Do you have a Workflow & Scheduler engine?
  • Does your internal database engine limit the number of records? Can it handle high volume data applications? Is it possible to query data in the app from another tool such as SSMS, Alteryx or Tableau? This would be useful for external reporting.
    • OutSystems makes use of standard database engines, SQL server or Oracle, so limitations are similar to what you face in standard code projects. See also more information about scalability here.
  • In the demo the data and tables are in the cloud - does it integrate well with on prem databases? IS it via APIs?

Hope this clarifies all the questions, don't hesitate and reply to this post to get more answers!
