Format and Customize the look of Data Grid

Hi, I need to design a table that has over 40+ columns avilable for user to show/hide, reorder and filter. Hence to do so I want to leverage the features provided by Data Grid component. However, my client also wants it to look like modern table with minimalistic design. So, kindly asking for your advices, 

  1. Is it possible to format the look of Data Grid component? If yes, how?
  2. Is using Data Grid the most suitable method in my case?
