After add locales instead of  use the translations locale lists present on the interface-multilingual locales it woud be nice to have the possibility of select a text in preview mode  on service studio and translate it in the context of the page.

I just upvoted this idea, assuming by "Preview Mode" you mean the screen editor. It would be very useful to translate expressions directly from from the screen editor. For example, there could be a "Translate" option in the right-click context menu.
Anyway, the wording on this idea could be improved ;)
It would be great include the text translations directly in the page editor, maybe after the properties like the image.
Other way could be access the translation option by right click.
The translation could be shown immediately in editor.

Can it be combined with idea: https://www.outsystems.com/ideas/Idea_View.aspx?IdeaId=1465

It would be nice to select a language in service studio and that all screens show the translated prompts. And that you're able to translate it in the screen itself. I know that not everything is on screen, but this would help a lot.

Especially the latter. Just right-click a text and be able to translate it on the spot, instead of opening the slow, buggy thing that's the translation editor.

Merged this idea with 'Translatable Elements - Shortcut to Multilingual' (created on 23 Feb 2018 15:11:26 by Tiago Bojikian Costa Vital)

Outsystems could add a new property in a Translatable Elements like a "Text" to access fast the multilingual configuration.

It could open a new window regard the languages already created in the Multilingual Locales folders just for the Text element where I can fill for all language without the needed to open one by one file to do it.

Add an extra option "translate"  to context menu when we point to any label, input, static entity record or text it will open the resources page selecting that value to translate instead opening the resource first then go choose the item.

Hey Badr,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Although this might be very useful for some scenarios, for the majority of developers (especially the ones building apps that are not multi-lingual) this would be a highly promoted operation that is not used.

For that reason, we don't have plans to tackle this in the near future.

Keep the ideas coming! :)

Shame on you Vasco :). But seriously, I would bet the most users of OutSystems are using the multilingual capabilities. You could even hide the context menu option if there wasn't any additional Multilangual Locale defined, so your hypothetical users would be off worse.

When you have to adjust a translation of a specific element on the screen you have to look for it on the screen first, which is fine. Then, when found, you select the multi-lingual but you will lose focus on the element. If it is an element which quite deep on the screen it might take awhile to find it back.

I know I can work the other way around, by opening the multi-lingual first and the start searching for the element. But...

It would be nice if I could open the multi-lingual window through the right-mouse-button menu when I click the element, just like when opening the corresponding screen action of a button. The multi-lingual window is then already focused on the selected element (also showing any childs of the element)

Merged this idea with 'Preview screen in other language translation in service studio' (created on 16 Feb 2020 08:39:20 by Daniël Kuhlmann)

It would be nice if I could switch to another language in the languages for which I provided translations while in Service Studio so that I can preview them without the need to do a 1CP to look at the result.

I know OutSystems is working on releasing build in support for reactive and mobile apps somewhat inline with what is currently possible for traditional web.

However for examlle  Mendix in their latest release of their development environment now allow you to see the translations at design time.

I would really like to see OutSystems staying ahead in giving the best developer experience.

+1. I think this would be really helpful, especially if Mobile and Reactive is also supported. We are currently developing and maintaining a mobile app that supports 4 languages.

As far as I can remember this has been in the platform from the time I started working with is 8+ years ago.

Hi Kilian,

I don't really know a lot of Mendix, but stumbled on a post that mentioned this as a recent improvement, that you could see the screens translated already at design time.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel, You to be sure. My intention was not correct you, but more to emphasize how long such a feature is available in a competing product. Regards, Kilian
