Enable Email Notifications for New Forum Posts

I have a idea that could be highly beneficial for active forum users. Currently, there is no option to receive email notifications for every new post in the forum. This means users must frequently refresh the forum to stay updated.

To enhance engagement and responsiveness, I propose adding a new option under:

📌 Forum Settings → Content Preferences → Review My Preferences → Email Notifications

Here, we already have checkboxes for various email alerts. My suggestion is to introduce a new checkbox for "Notify me of new forum posts." This will allow active users to get real-time email alerts whenever a new question is posted, enabling faster responses and reducing the need for manual checking.

This small enhancement could make a big difference in improving forum activity and user experience!

As a frequent forum user, I think this will move 'manually checking the forum' to 'manually checking your mail'.

I go to the forum, sort by latest, start from page one, and look at everything that moved since the last time I checked, easy to see on the list page by the "X replied 55 minutes ago" in the bottom right corner of each post.

If I'm not sure where to stop looking, I stop when I see my name appear there.

In other words, I don't feel the need, but as long as it is an opt-in option, go for it.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I completely understand that manually checking works well for some users. However, for those who actively engage but may not always have time to check frequently, an email notification option (opt-in, of course!) could be a helpful alternative.

The goal is not to replace manual checking but to provide flexibility users can choose what works best for them.
