I would like to see a built in midnight/dark theme for service studio. Something that is a little easier on the eyes when working the night shift.


Looked around but couldn't find anything to suggest this is a duplicate, but let me know if it is.

Something that I've found to be a big help too is getting some bias lighting on my monitor, but it only works when the screen is near a wall. It cost me around $20 on Amazon.

Many a night I sit up with this white screen glaring at me.  According to the health professionals of the world I need a Dark Theme option!

I've been working with service studio for a couple of weeks now and it's been annoing me not being able to use a dark theme. It's irritating my eyes because i'm used to using a darker themes with almost everything.

Could this be included in a near update?

Hi Hugo,

I know there's a big desire to have a dark theme (and it is actually very useful) but currently we don't have anything in our roadmap to tackle this.

I'll be paying attention to this though.

I was about to create the same idea. 

Please do that, all my other main development apps have the dark theme enabled. Service studio currently is the black sheep (do you get the irony?).

HI Folks,


Right now we have an only white (OR Light) theme (appearance of Outsystems ), but its good to have Black OR Dark theme in Outsystem available so it will good for Eyes and performance of the systems

I would like to have the possibility to change the color scheme of the IDE of OutSystems, the white background is tiresome for the eyes when working 8/5 and I would like to be able to change it to a darker color scheme

As working in night the white theme is really very painful but dark theme will improve working in night.

The tile says it all, choose a theme for Service Studio in dark.

Dark theme causes less vision fatigue and saves energy.

Few articles  https://www.maketecheasier.com/are-dark-themes-better-for-eyes-battery/ and https://www.wired.com/story/do-you-need-dark-mode/ clearly explains how a dark theme helps eyes and battery, but with soft contrast. 

+1 for the idea.

I already use multiple applications with dark theme. This option would be interesting!

I don't know if it would be weird to program with the dark theme.

The interface part that I believe doesn't have much to change as it should be the most real to display.

It would be great if you make Integration and service Studio available dark Theme , it will help lots of people who are having sight problems, and also it cool for Eyes to work in dark Theme.

In light of the recent hype that has been going on around enabling Dark Mode in applications (Facebook and Whatsapp are considering this also), I’m thinking why not let OutSystems join the party! 

Dark Mode in Service Studio/Service Center/LifeTime would look pretty neat!

Especially a dark mode UI in Service Studio would have a developer’s preference don’t you think?

I was hoping that the Service Studio can have themes like some Text Editors(Sublime, Notepad ++, etc), that developers use. I really want it to have Dark mode, I just prefer using dark colors instead of white.

In the end, it's a matter of preference, and we should be able to change to our liking, this is a common feature across IDE. 

This would be a nice QOL improvement for the application.

As a PC user who uses most of the themes on Dark mode, just like Slack, Notepad++, or even Windows...

Having Outsystems SS on a Light Mode is one of the few apps which becomes really tiring for my eyesight after several hours in front of the PC.

It's just not cosmetic, it's a matter of Programmer health :)

Hello

Would be great if is possible to change the theme colour or background colour on Service Studio.

Sometimes when your working on logic actions, the white background on Service Studio is a little exhausting for the eyes and more when your a lot of time in front on the computer screen.

The theme or background colour selection is one of the most popular code editors feature and for Outsystems have something like this would be amazing.

It would be a good idea to add a dark theme, because the light theme with high contrast makes the letters and items difficult to see.

I realy think a darker theme made Service Studio more attractive to the programmer.

Following the tendences, as we have on Visual Studio, for example, and many others IDE, I´d suggest Outsystems create an option to become all the enviroment dark, with black backgrounds, dark greys, etc..

Provide Dark mode for Service Studio and Integration Studio. The developer should have the option to choose a light or dark mode for both the apps while doing the development

Good Idea Miguel, and the version of Service Studio presented at NextStep 2020 that will probably get in GA somewhere this year will feature this.

Hello all,

As we all aware about night vision mode. We are using in our browser, mobile and other applications. 

We all work on service studio an service center, and spend many hours on these two application. Right now there is now night vision available for this. If it get in to these to application. This will help for working with it.

Although new themes capability is GA for the macOS version, it is still in Beta for Windows. We'll mark this idea as implemented as soon it is GA for all the OutSystems Community.

Pedro Alves, dark theme will never be implemented for the current Windows GA Service Studio (a.k.a. the "old" version). Dark theme is only available in the cross-platform version, which is GA for Mac and beta for Windows. So if you really need dark mode, you should use the Windows beta.

Unfortunately Windows beta is not an option since it is not approved on the company I'm working on an I have no permissions to install non approved software.

This is normally the case with large enterprises. You can only install what is on their software center or a special request needs to be made which may or may not be approved. It is called ransomware protection :)

Just download Service Studio, any version above 11.53.0, and you'll have the "Dark theme" option at the top of the Preferences.
