Republish an application from LifeTime instead of creating a solution on ServiceCenter

Lifetime
On our radar

It would be nice to add the functionality to republish an application from LifeTime instead of creating a Solution in ServiceCenter to republish a set of eSpaces.

Kind regards,

It's already there. Just click the drop down and choose "Redeploy Application" as the deployment action.

Hi Justin,

I tried to find it, but I can't on 9.1 and 10. Do you have a screenshot of a screen with this option?

Kind regards,

Remco

I think you only see it if you are publishing something that would change producers to that application.

Why can't you just click the "Publish" button on the Application in Service Center? Go to the Application details, there's a "Publish" button. No need for a solution.

Hi Justin,

This is exactly the function I was looking for, but I use Lifetime for deployments and I need this option when I have some warnings on DEV and I'm in the process of deploying to the next environment. To save time and not going from LifeTime to ServiceCenter and back I would like to see that this option is also added to LifeTime.

Kind regards,

Remco

I am beginning to think this was removed... I'm trying to find it in a v10 install and I can't, but i know it was there in 8 or 9 (I haven't done a lot of deployments lately, been handed over to other folks). It certainly used to be there for Consumers when you deployed their Producers.

I agree with Remco. This feature should be available via LifeTime. If you change a common component, you want to easily be able to republish all applications that have references to it.

The appliation publish via service center is an option, but if you need to republish multiple applications, it might take some time. In our case, if we change the core, we need to republish over 20 applications. That's not handy.

When do you use this? I also think its so dependend on how you use the applications/modules.

What remco says about republish application on development environment, I wouldn't care about outdated applications/modules on the development environment. When I'm deploying to next environment, OS takes care of this for me. When something isn't compatible I only need to update that module(s), not the whole application.

Hello, this would be very useful in large factories. My project has more than 600 eSpaces and its very coupled because it's a core system. So we publish a solution in DEV env. every day to keep everything refreshed and ensure nothing is broken. Change in some eSpaces can outdate hundreds of consumers.

Since service center does not have an automation API and Lifetime does, it would be very useful to support this in Lifetime.
