As a new Community Manager here at OutSystems, I started to reflect on our Vision/Mission and Values that will help feed into the development of new Community Guidelines and a Code of Conduct.
Given that:Vision is how you see the world in the future.Mission is how your community/project is working to create that future.Values are the principles that guide your community/project's internal conduct and its relationship with its users, and partners.
Seen in the OutSystems Small Book of The Few Big Rules - Let's "Ask Why".Why are we here? Why are we doing what we are doing? Why is this important?
So, I tried to put my thoughts on paper:
We aid everyones success with OutSystems by connecting them to a vibrant, supportive, smart and friendly community.
Please continue the discussion here.
Values are perfect. I can never tell apart missions and visions. I simply remember that we have "a simple goal and a lot of work to get there", aka, "the mission should be longer that the vision". So I suggest small changes:
Vision: Build a great Community around a great Product, AND a great Product around a great Community!
Mission:
-Creating a space for the greater OutSystems community to learn, grow, share and support each other and the ecosystem.
-Building and growing OutSystems with and through the help of a vibrant, supportive, smart and friendly community.
-Promoting the product, the community and the members of the community to build a bigger and stronger community.
What do you say?
I like it Nuno! Only thing is this sentence:
I don't really see the communities mission as actively "promoting the product", rather, creating a support community around a product to better the use and understanding of it...Thoughts?
