Would be nice to have an option copy a single value from previewed data.
PS: Although, I noticed that Ctrl+C copies all the values from the selected column.
I would like to be able to copy the value of a data cell from the grid in the View Data screen of a Database Entity.
This would be especially useful when the data in the cell has more characters than what is displayed in the view, so the visible data is truncated.
However, there are many other use cases when it would be handy to copy a value out of the View Data screen (eg: to use the value in documentation, correspondence, or to paste it into another query or filter, etc.).
I want to be able to select and copy one or more rows of data from the View Data screen of a Database Entity, so that I can paste the data into an Excel sheet.
This would be helpful when troubleshooting data related issues with multiple records or multiple fields in a record.
Ideally, the column headers should be included in the result when copying multiple rows, but not when copying only one row. Alternatively, a right click context menu to copy with or without column headers.
Hey Charles,
Merged your two ideas since they are very similar (one at cell level and one at row level).
Cheers
It would be nice if it is possible to copy a record value when you are viewing the data of a entity in service studio. Sometimes I want to test /debug some values in a aggregate where you can set the filters in the "test value" tab of an aggregate to see what the query result is. Sometimes the values are in encrypted or in GUID form, so writing them down is really time consuming. By just copying these values I will be able to test/debug aggregate query results.
Hi,If we have Entity / Aggregate on our actions, we could try to display the records by input the filters or not. Could we copy the cell / row value from this records ?Because if the cell of record containing the key / GUID number its being hard to keep the value. Thanks
I was about to create a new idea about copying specific attribute value but then I found it already existed.
I believe it will be very helpful to allow copying single attribute value. Currently, Ctrl+C copies all the values displayed for the attribute.
It would be handy if you could right click on any attribute in either aggregate results or when viewing data for an entity and copy the value.
You can already press Ctrl-C to copy, but I agree it would be nice to have it in the context menu.
Ctrl+C copies all the results visible in that column, you can't copy an individual value, and annoyingly you can't copy all of a column either as anything truncated is not included.
I want to be able to copy a single field.
Also, something I added as an idea elsewhere, I want to be able to highlight a row and not a column, plus it would be handy to be able to copy a record (i.e. single row) or selection of records (i.e. rows).
Highlighting a column is rarely useful in my experience.
Whereas highlighting a row would regularly be useful for me, particularly where you have lots of attributes and need to scroll right to see the values, as it's really hard to identify which row is the one of interest. If it were highlighted it would be so easy.
Agreed with all your points, even though it's not quite what you wrote in the initial Idea :).
Yes, I mentioned other things I've previously suggested elsewhere, but also maybe I didn't clarify properly in my initial description. :-P
Not that it would stop you from doing the debugging but would be less click if you are trying to copy a value from one aggregate to another especially if it is a GUID:Now I need to use a separate tool or do another aggregate/SQL to be able to fetch what I need. Thumbs up for this idea.
With the new ability to edit the data in the Preview (if you are in the module that the Entity exists in) then you can now copy it. But would be nice to be able to do it even if not in the correct module.
